About

Amy Zink earned her Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Michigan State University she took a job with the Aveda Corporation as an educator for a line of plant-based, eco-friendly beauty products. This opened a new world of environmental awareness which inspired Amy to plant flowers & herbs in her yard to both create beauty and a connection to nature. Quickly she discovered a fulfillment and joy that made her realize that gardening was her life-path.  She avidly read gardening books, eventually became a Certified Master Gardner and entrepreneur; owning and operating an ornamental garden design business serving homeowners.

Abundant Sunshine and a year-round growing season inspired Amy to move to San Diego from Detroit Michigan in the Fall of 1998. Bringing nearly two decades of experience cultivating edible beauty, in 2006 Amy developed an educational garden program at her children’s school, which has grown into two abundant organic vegetable and herb gardens, a small school farmer’s market and opportunities for children to prepare meals with their harvest. As the Garden Coordinator & Designer at San Diego Cooperative Charter School, Amy coordinates a team of parent volunteers who tend, harvest and participate in educational gardening with students.

Amy completed the Hands On Organic Farming Workshop at La Milpa Organica Farm in the summer of 2009, in addition she attends Master Gardener Education Seminars twice yearly. Amy independently studies the interrelationship between organic vegetable gardening, permaculture,  native plant cultivation and sustainability.

Life begins the day you start a garden!
